Oluwatosin Alabi (Tosin) is a problem solver who loves proverbs. One proverb in particular that she enjoys to reflect on states: “You cannot discover new oceans unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.” As a graduate researcher, her work is focused studying the effectiveness of computing in advancing problem solving skills and conceptual understanding. In addition, Tosin’s technical skills are focused on system analysis using applied statistics and qualitative methods.

Currently, Tosin is a doctoral student within the department of Computer and Information Technology at Purdue University, working under the supervision of Dr. Alejandra Magana.

“I enjoy the fact that computing involves more than just coding and computers, it also involves developing and implementing models to help solve problems in engineering, business, manufacturing, medicine and countless other disciplines.”
