Spring 2014 Systers Pass-It-On Award Winner
Dr. Ramalatha Marimuthu is the head of Anna University’s Department of Information Technology at Kumaraguru College of Technology and has taught at polytechnics and engineering colleges for 27 years. Dr. Marimuthu is a senior member of IEEE and the founding chairman of Madras IEEE Women in Engineering. She was the first Indian to chair the international Women in Engineering Committee (2011-2012), and chaired the Asia Pacific Region WIE for three years. Dr. Marimuthu represented IEEE India in the Clinton Global Initiative’s Tech Delegation 2013.
Dr. Marimuthu also launched Sangamam, an exclusive project promoting the transfer of technology to rural areas through training programs for village women and youth. She has won many awards, including the Anita Borg Institute Change Agent Award 2012, for her entrepreneurship programs benefiting the rural women of India.
