How do you increase gender diversity in technology? This is the fundamental question that we at the Anita Borg Institute try to solve. For the past five years, we have conducted an annual conference bringing together women in technology: the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India (GHCI). The sixth edition of the conference was held from Dec. 2-4 in Bengaluru and was attended by over 2,200 women technologists from around the country, the largest technical conference for women. Geetha Kannan, managing director of ABI India, spoke in an interview with the Mint on the efforts being made at the student and professional levels to increase gender diversity and what ABI hopes to achieve.
