Speaking Up Against Discrimination in the Workplace

There are numerous reasons behind the lack of women in computing, but one of the biggest factors is that many tech companies present hostile environments for female employees. “Women are very often overlooked for more innovative and strategic roles,” says Geetha Kannan, managing director of the Anita Borg Institute (ABI), India. “It is very common in tech companies for a female team member’s idea to be ignored until a male member makes the same suggestion later.” While dealing with sexism and discrimination is difficult, women need to speak up against the harassment they face and bring attention to this issue.
