Since 2006, Harvey Mudd College has increased the number of female computer science majors from 10% to 54%. Maria Klawe, president of Harvey Mudd, credits this achievement to the “non-interruption listening protocols” which senior staff members are taught. Harvey Mudd also requires those leading strategy development sessions to learn techniques created at the Anita Borg Institute. By doing so, the college creates a more inclusive environment, encouraging their female students to stay in STEM.
