In 2010, Thomson Reuters implemented “Leadhership1,” an Anita Borg Institute program designed to engage and retain rising women technologists within a company. The program has successfully increased the retention and promotion of Thomson Reuters’ women in tech, and helped Thomson Reuters land on our 2016 Top Companies for Women Technologists Leadership Index.
Rick King, Executive Vice President and CIO of Thomson Reuters, explains Leadhership1 is successful because it is supported by both women and men in the company.
“[T]he program illustrates the importance of a ‘gender partnership,’ the alliance of women and men in driving the change needed to achieve gender equity in organizations and the business value it creates,” Rick said. “If we are to achieve proportional representation of women in technology leadership roles, men must become strong allies with women in this effort.”
