As a community partner of Women Techmakers, Systers was able to attend Google I/O again this year held in San Francisco, CA at Moscone Center. Systers were able to register as an Anita Borg Institute community partner guaranteed registration. We were also able to award 25 Systers travel grants to attend. Women Techmakers also hosted dinners the night before conference at 5 various restaurants in San Francisco.
Many Systers were able to see the Keynotes, have hands on experience with new Android Suite at code labs, learn about autonomous cars and learn about the latest Google products for developers. But we also had a chance to meet together after the conference on each day at meetups. ThoughtWorks hosted Systers meetups on both Thursday and Friday. We all hung out, talked about what we experienced at the conference and we even heard from Ana Rodrigo, ThoughtWorker, who talked about ThoughtWorks and her career path.
Overall, the experience was fabulous and many Systers left I/O with greater knowledge of Google products and ideas on how they can use them to build incredible products that will solve problems. And not mention, the Nexus 9 tablet Google graciously gave every attendee will help in their product testing. We want to thank Google, Women Techmakers and ThoughtWorks for partnering with Anita Borg Institute and Systers. Look forward to future collaborations.
