About the Author (from Amazon.com):
Joan L. Mitchell, PhD, recently retired from IBM after a 32-year career (when her division was sold). With 77 patents to her name so far, she is the most prolific woman patent-holder in the history of IBM. Among her more recognizable contributions, Dr. Mitchell has co-invented and done research on the Quietwriter, Facsimile (FAX) data compression and the internationally accepted JPEG standard. A major goal of Dr. Mitchell was to become an IBM fellow, a goal which she accomplished about five years ago.
Her new employer is the joint venture Ricoh | IBM Infoprint Solutions Company which purchased the division she worked for at IBM. She got to keep her same office and desk during the employment transition. Joan resides in Longmont, Colorado and is excited about the opportunities to help her new company grow their business.
