The Anita Borg Institute staff is in the final stages of preparation for the Grace Hopper Conference, October 17-20, in Orlando, Florida. We’ve lined up exciting keynotes, excellent sessions, networking events, luncheons, workshops, and plenty of other interesting activities.
Don’t delay: EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION is closing on Friday, August 31, 2007. Academic and corporate sponsor deadlines are approaching, too, so be sure to let us know soon if you’d like to support our efforts this year.

Do you want to help build and strengthen the GHC community? ABI is looking for volunteers to blog, take notes, chat, participate in forums, and use Twitter to help make the conference a more enriching experience.
FOCUS GROUP PARTICIPANTS NEEDED AT GHC
Help women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines by participating in a focus group at GHC, October 18 to discuss stereotypes and bias in these fields, particularly in academic settings. Women of color are encouraged to apply. This project is funded by the National Science Foundation and conducted by the Center for Work Life Law at the University of California, Hastings College of Law. To participate email Donna Norton.

2. CHILDCARE IS AVAILABLE Thanks to a generous grant from Symantec, ABI is offering subsidized childcare for conference attendees. Please register your children in advance.
3. SATURDAY AT GHC
Take your pick of four interactive workshops offering real-world practical advice, tips, and techniques for developing and presenting your own ideas, driving innovation, or launching a company.
4. ORLANDO EXPERIENCE
GHC attendees, spouses, and guests may purchase tickets to various Orlando attractions at a discount. Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, October 10, 2007, but can be used anytime during your stay.

Honoring Anita Borg’s vision of a community of technical women supporting one another. Open to any woman over 18 years old in or aspiring to be in the fields of computing. Grants are open to women in all countries and range from $500.00 to $1000.00.
