Dear Jerri,

February is a very exciting and busy time at the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology. All of our 2008 programs are beginning to take shape.

Registration for Women of Vision is starting to grow as we approach the end of our early bird pricing - February 29th 2008 is the last day to get early bird pricing. Excitement is also building in local colleges as we extend complimentary invitations to students to fill our Share the Vision tables at the banquet.

The Grace Hopper Celebration is in October but everyone is buzzing about the Call for Participation. Don’t forget to submit your proposal by March 16th.
And our first TechLeaders of the year will be hosted by Google on Feb 27th & 28th. If you have attended a TechLeaders in the past please come join us again as we focus on how to extend your power and influence. And be sure to tell your co-workers and friends about the class. Our own Jo Miller, of Ask Jo, will be leading this exciting session.

TECHLEADERS: POWER AND INFLUENCE

Join us on February 27th & 28th, 2008 in Mountain View, CA at Google for TechLeaders: Power and Influence featuring Jo Miller, CEO of Women’s Leadership Coaching. Speakers will include Nina Bhatti, Principal Scientist, HP Labs, Carole Dulong, Senior Staff Engineer, Google and Nehal Mehta, Director of Software Quality Assurance, Symantec.

This two-day workshop will focus on extending your power and influence as a technical woman through increased organizational awareness, negotiation techniques, strategies to increase your visibility, and techniques to increase buy-in for your ideas.

The Anita Borg Institute has surveyed more than 400 technical women about the most important barriers to advancement they face in their current roles.”Two barriers consistently make it into the top five: influencing others, even when you have the formal authority, and increasing your visibility. In response to those findings, ABI has partnered with Jo Miller and Women’s Leadership Coaching to bring technical women a TechLeaders workshop specifically designed to break down those barriers.
