How are you going to invent the future?

If you’re looking to take charge of your future, attending the Grace Hopper Celebration Saturday workshops on October 20th is something you don’t want to miss! This year’s conference, themed “I Invent the Future,” offers talks and panels by some of the leading women in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship, and intrapreneurship (making an idea a reality within a large organization).

Whether you work in a large organization and don’t know how to get your idea heard or you’re looking to move onto the next level, these workshops will help you get there.

Workshop attendees will discuss their experiences, lessons learned, and share compelling thoughts and ideas that you can take home with you. Saturday is all about action so take the ideas and discussions, learn from them, and apply them to you. This is a great way for you to invent your own future.

Workshop Details

There are four, hour-long workshops that will be repeated twice on Saturday so workshop attendees have the opportunity to attend two of the four workshops. During the opening remarks on Saturday morning, you’ll learn about the workshops from the amazing women who are leading them:

Entrepreneurship: The Fundamentals (and Fun) of Idea Generation – Denise Brossueau
In this session you will learn how to create and develop an idea. Even if you don’t have one right now, this workshop will provide tools to develop an idea make it a revenue-generating business. If you ever said, “I would love to start my own company, but doing what?” This is the place for you!

Innovation Strategies: Finding the Big Idea
Driving innovation is the main idea here. This workshop will not only teach you about finding and building on that Big Idea, but how to make it a reality with scenario planning, market intelligence, creating knowledge through research and insight. Nilofer Merchant works with many, many women in Silicon Valley and has plenty of experience analyzing plans. You don’t want to miss this discussion.

Intrapreneurship:
You work in a large organization and have an idea, but how do you make it a reality even if it isn’t in “the plan?”  Join this workshop led by Nina Bhatti from HP Labs who is right in the middle of launching a brand new product we know you will be excited about. This is not a textbook discussion, but a real-world scenario detailing the steps to take to present your idea, manage up, and find resources. For anyone who works in a large orgnaization, this is the workshop that will have you inventing the future in no time.

Presentation Skills:
No, this isn’t advanced Powerpoint! This is about condensing your idea into a concise presentation for the purpose of the 30-second elevator pitch, the proposal for seed money,  budget access in large organizations, or rounds of venture-capital funding. No matter what our background, we are all selling something: our ideas, our work, and our plans. This workshop will help you hone this very important skillset.
