News Attending the She’s Geeky (un)Conference

She's Geeky media sponsors

After spending last week with more than 1400 female technologists at the 2007 Grace Hopper Conference in Orlando, I had the opportunity to extend my time with a smaller group of 200 technical women at She’s Geeky in Mountain View, CA this week.

She’s Geeky is an (un)conference where the attendees get to set the agenda. Women from all over the United States from a variety of disciplines and industries — developers, bloggers, nonprofits, open-source evangelists, researchers, technical writers, teachers, corporate folks, and so many more who self-identify as geeks — were all there supporting and teaching one another.

It was a memorable experience and I personally learned a great deal from all of the smart and geeky attendees. What made it even better was the free coffee (paid for by nonprofit sponsors) and our She’s Geeky mugs listing all of the media sponsors. It made me proud to see the Anita Borg Institute recognized as a supporter of this wonderful event.

If you didn’t get a chance to attend the (un)conference, the organizers will be planning other events in New York and potentially the U.K.
