News Google’s VP Alan Eustace Joins ABI’s Board Of Trustees

Palo Alto, California, January 18, 2006 - The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology (ABI) today announced that Alan Eustace, vice president, Engineering and Research at Google, has joined the ABI Board of Trustees. The sixteen-member Board includes representatives from industry, academia and government, and provides broad policy leadership for the organization. Their role is critical to the continuing advancement of the Anita Borg Institute’s mission to increase the impact of women on all aspects of technology and to increase the positive impact of technology on the lives of the world’s women.

Eustace joined Google in 2002, following 15 years with HP’s Western Research Laboratory (WRL), which was formerly part of Digital Equipment Corporation and Compaq Computer. He served as Director of WRL from 1999 through 2002, and previously worked on a variety of chip design and architecture projects including the MicroTitan Floating Point unit, BIPS, and ATOM, a binary code instrumentation system that forms the basis for a wide variety of program analysis and computer architecture analysis tools. The author of 9 publications and 10 patents, he holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida.
