Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing: October 3-7, 2006 San Diego, CA
Save the date! – Call for participation
The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing is the largest technical conference for women in computing and results in collaborative proposals, networking and mentoring for junior women and increased visibility for the contributions of women in computing. Conference presenters are leaders in their respective fields, representing industry, academia and government. Top researchers present their work while special sessions focus on the role of women in today’s technology fields. Electronic submissions will be accepted beginning February 1, 2006.

TechLeaders - Realizing Your Vision, March 22-23, 2006 Google, Mountain View, CA.

This is a two-day inaugural workshop based on the highly successful TechLeaders for senior women. This event is for aspiring senior technical contributors in the Silicon Valley. It will offer a unique set of speakers, opportunities to deepen relationships with other women in the Bay Area’s technical community and skills to help increase your scope and influence while defining and building your technical vision.

Google 2006 Anita Borg Scholarships
As part of Google’s ongoing commitment to furthering Anita Borg’s (1949 - 2003) vision, we are pleased to announce the 2006 Google Anita Borg Scholarship, through which we hope to encourage women to excel in computing and technology and become active role models and leaders. All applications must be postmarked by Friday, January 20, 2006.

Applications Open for CRA-W DMP SUMMER 2006 Research Internships
TheCRA-W Distributed Mentor Program (DMP) is a highly selective program that matches promising undergraduate women with a faculty mentor for a summer research experience at the faculty member’s home institution. This experience is invaluable for students who are considering graduate school, providing them with a close-up view of what graduate school is really like and also increasing their competitiveness as an applicant for graduate admissions and fellowships.

Congratulations to Leah H. Jamieson who has been selected the 2006 IEEE president-elect by members of the IEEE. She will begin serving as IEEE president on 1 January 2007 (pending acceptance of the Teller’s Committee election-tally report by the IEEE Board of Directors, which was to take place in mid-November). Jamieson is the second woman to be elected president of the IEEE; Martha Sloan held the office in 1993.
