Bethany Steichen was inspired by her mother Marie Steichen.

My mother, who paid her way through college on a beautician’s tip income and now has a Ph.D., inspired me. She always felt that she had math and science abilities, but never had support or encouragement to pursue them. To prevent that from happening to her children, she made sure we had opportunities to see and experience technologies. All three of her daughters are now engineers.
