The Anita Borg Institute is writing women into technical history. Thousands of women throughout the world are leading technology innovation. They often go unnoticed and unrewarded. The Anita Borg Institute has created a set of awards to honor these distinguished technical women and those who are working towards the recruitment, retention and advancement of technical women.

WOMEN OF VISION AWARDS
2013 nominations are now closed.
The Anita Borg Institute Women of Vision Awards, hosted by the Anita Borg Institute Board of Trustees, honors women making significant contributions to technology. One winner is selected in each category: Innovation, Leadership, and Social Impact. The annual awards banquet will be held on May 10, 2013.

ANITA BORG TOP COMPANY FOR TECHNICAL WOMEN AWARD
Applications for the 2013 award are now closed.
The Anita Borg Top Company for Technical Women Award recognizes an organization that has demonstrated measurable results in the recruitment, retention, and advancement of technical women at all levels. The Top Company award winner is honored at the annual Women of Vision Awards Banquet and the Anita Borg Top Company for Technical Women Afternoon Workshop will be held on May 10, 2013.

‘ABI’ AWARDS:

  • ‘ABI’ Award for Social Impact Award
    2013 nominations are now closed.
    The Award for Social Impact recognizes individuals who have made a positive impact on women, technology, and society. Recipients are honored by the technical women’s community at the Grace Hopper Celebration. The award includes a prize of $10,000.
  • ‘ABI’ Award for Technical Leadership
    2013 nominations are now closed.
    The Award for Technical Leadership recognizes women technologists who demonstrate leadership through their contributions to technology and achievements in increasing the impact of women on technology. Recipients are honored by the technical women’s community at the Grace Hopper Celebration and invited to give a presentation on their work and accomplishments at the conference. The award includes a prize of $10,000.
  • ‘ABI’ Denice Denton Emerging Leader Award
    2013 nominations are now closed.
    The Denice Denton Emerging Leader Award recognizes a junior faculty member for high-quality research and significant positive impact on diversity. Recipients are honored by the technical women’s community at the Grace Hopper Celebration and invited to give a presentation on their work and accomplishments at the conference. The award includes a prize of $5,000.
  • ‘ABI’ A. Richard Newton Educator Award
    2013 nominations are now closed.
    The A. Richard Newton Educator Award recognizes educators for developing innovative teaching practices and approaches that attract girls and women to computing, engineering, and math. Recipients are honored by the technical women’s community at the Grace Hopper Celebration. The award includes a prize of $5,000.
  • ‘ABI’ Change Agent Awards
    2013 nominations are now closed.
    The Change Agent Awards celebrate the accomplishments of rising technical women leaders from outside the United States, with an emphasis on developing countries, whose work results in social, cultural, and/or behavioral change. Recipients are honored by the technical women’s community at the Grace Hopper Celebration. The award covers the winners’ expenses to attend the conference.

Other Awards

Anita Borg’s vision has inspired many. As a result, awards in Anita’s honor have been created by other organizations, including Google’s Anita Borg Scholarships and CRA-W’s Anita Borg Early Career Award.
