Who We Are: Sarah Revi Sterling

Sarah Revi-SterlingS. Revi Sterling is the Director of Graduate Studies in Information and Communication Technology for Development, or ICTD. She is concerned with the creation and advocacy of appropriate, sustainable and community-equitable technologies. Her major areas of research include community ICTD readiness and participation, ICTD curriculum development, cross-sector efforts, informed consent in ICTD research, as well as providing gender mainstreaming and sustainable development consulting for NGOS, foundations and corporations. She received her PhD in ICTD in 2008; prior to graduate school, she worked at Microsoft for ten years, most recently in Microsoft Research’s External Research Program where she championed Microsoft’s gender equity efforts in higher education, including testifying on gendered pipeline issues before Congress in 2005.
