Who We Are: Sarah Loos

Sarah Loos, Ph.D Candidate, Carnegie Mellon University

Sarah LoosSarah Loos is a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research interests include logical analysis and formal verification of distributed hybrid systems, such as distributed car control. Additionally, she is a Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellow. As an undergraduate at Indiana University, Sarah served as the Co-President of the Undergraduate Women in Computing group. She is now an active member of Women@SCS at Carnegie Mellon and participates in several educational computer science outreach programs. She is also interested in computer science pedagogy and improving curricula for introductory computer science courses. Sarah was a finalist for the CRA’s 2009 Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award and was among the winners of the ACM Student Research Competition for her work on Strassen algorithms for matrix multiplication.
