Who We Are: Sabrina Coleman
Senior Manager, Owner, Mahoghany Coaching & Development Practice
Sabrina Coleman is the owner of Mahoghany Coaching & Development Practice, which provides support to women leaders and professionals specializing in serving women of underrepresented groups.
Ms.Coleman has twenty years of comprehensive combined experience working across government, corporate and non-profit sectors in roles that include leadership, organizational development, professional development, change management, group facilitation, coaching, and project management. The last twelve years she has primarily focused on internal consulting within the biotech/pharmaceutical industry supporting business and IT leaders, as well as global enterprise technology solutions. Because of the various roles she has played, she is in a unique position to partner with organizational leaders at all levels transcending functional boundaries to deliver strategically-aligned results. Her practical, hands-on experience as a coach, consultant and leader has provided her with insight that is beneficial to the development and support of leaders and individuals at every level of an organization.
Ms. Coleman completed a year-long qualitative research study last year which focused on how African-American (AA) Women Managers behavior and attitudes in response to systemic barriers in the workplace serve to reinforce or remove these barriers. The study examined how some reactions serve to reinforce negative stereotypes, causing unintentional collusion with the system. One major objective of the study was to provide AA women managers and professionals with insight, strategies and tools that promote self-awareness and empowerment.
Doing this work prompted a shift in her own work to focus on her area of passion, which is providing professional and personal developmental support to women that is holistic, transformative and transcendent across all areas of their lives.
Ms. Coleman serves on the board of Cross-Cultural Communications Inc., the parent organization of the Effective Influence Conference, an organization dedicated to the professional advancement of professionals of color and their allies through communication and relationship skill-building. She also serves on the board of the Women’s Therapy Center (WTC) and its diversity committee. WTC is an organization dedicated to strengthening individual women, families and communities through affordable therapy. She is also a member of the Adjunct Faculty of Sonoma State University with the Psychology/OD Program.
Ms. Coleman holds an M.A. in Psychology/OD, a BA in Management/MIS and is a Certified Corporate Coach (CCC) and Project Manager (PMP).
