Who We Are: Neerja Raman

Senior Research Fellow

Neerja Raman, Senior Research Fellow at Stanford University is an award winning executiveNeerja Raman and author in technology research and new business creation. Prior to joining Stanford, Neerja held positions as Director, Imaging Systems Laboratory and Strategic Planning at Hewlett Packard Labs where her team developed technologies for HP’s Imaging and Printing businesses.  She is a 2005 Hall of Fame inductee, Women in Technology International (WITI) and has been recognized by the Indo-American community, as a Distinguished Citizen and Technology Leader (Federation of Indo-Americans in 2006, Indian-American Women Empowered in 2008) and the California State Senate for “leadership in the global high-tech industry” in honor of International Women’s History Month, March 2008. Neerja’s leadership guide “The Practice and Philosophy of Decision Making” has been featured in the category “Books that Empower Women” by WITI. At Stanford, Neerja is researching the confluence of business, technology and social agendas to promote the social entrepreneurship model of business creation to address global issues of poverty alleviation and climate change. Her research has been published in conference proceedings and as “Eco-Stacking: A Strategy for Success in Social and Business Agendas” in 2007 book Innovative Approaches to Reducing Global Poverty. She authors the blog, Digital Provide: from Good to Gold, to honor and promote social entrepreneurs.

Neerja was on the advisory committee for Cyber-Infrastructure, National Science Foundation 2006-2008 and is board member of several non-profits. Neerja is a graduate of the Kellogg Executive Program, Northwestern University, and has Masters Degrees from S.U.N.Y Stony Brook, New York and Delhi University, India.
