Who We Are: Molly Boose
Molly Boose received B.S. degrees in Math and Computer Science from the College of William and Mary in 1986. She began her career at Planning Research Corporation as a systems engineer developing software on electronic Multiple Listing Service systems. She joined the Institute for Defense Analyses in 1987 where she worked on expert systems and artificial intelligence and did graduate work in math and computer science at George Mason University.
Molly joined Boeing in 1989 where she began working on technical data systems for commercial aviation services. Her first major accomplishment at Boeing was developing an auto-tagging system that translated hundreds of thousands of pages of technical manuals from proprietary formats to the Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML). In 1993, she created the first online, hyperlinked, 35000-page aircraft maintenance manual for a 747 jumbo jet.
From 1995-1997, Molly worked as a senior software engineer at a biotech start-up, where she developed a robust user interface for a cutting-edge diagnostic device. She worked closely with pathologists and scientists to ensure the reporting capabilities and device controls met strict requirements for FDA approval.
Molly returned to Boeing in 1997, where she continued her work in advanced aircraft maintenance systems. She is a pioneer and inventor of intelligent graphics technology at Boeing, a specialty field that involves the data mining and computational understanding of technical illustrations such as wiring diagrams. She has four patents and four patents pending for her inventions in intelligent graphics. Molly became an Associate Technical Fellow at Boeing in 1999 and a Technical Fellow in 2006. Over the past decade, she has led a wide variety of projects at Boeing such as the V-22 Osprey Electronic Wiring Suite, Apache Longbow Integrated Wiring Diagrams, 787 Electronic Schematics and Wiring Analysis Tool and the SBInet Sensor Laydown. She also spends time as a mentoring instructor with the Ed Wells Program at Boeing.
Molly lives in Bellevue Washington with her husband and two teenage daughters where they are active in local community service and activities.
