Who We Are: Linda Apsley, Principal Group Program Manager, Xbox Live Services, Microsoft Corporation

Linda Apsley is the Principal Group Program Manager responsible for Service Excellence for Microsoft Xbox Live Services. Linda is known as a transformational leader who creates effective strategy, and designs new architectures, engineering methods, and policies to successfully deliver complex software engineering projects. She is also known for her skill in designing and delivering the first enterprise customer roll-outs of new software products. As a program manager at Microsoft, Linda has released more than ten different software products including Systems Management Server, Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003, Windows XP, the Office 365 Service, and the Xbox Live Services.

From 2006-2008, Linda managed compliance engineering for the Windows Division where she managed a project with over 500 engineers to successfully deliver Windows protocol specifications to meet the Consent Decree requirements. Her leadership during the protocol project was instrumental in aligning legal commitments with engineering deliverables. She also demonstrated an ability to manage complex relationships with the State’s Attorneys and the Technical Committee.

She is an active leader in technical women’s communities and is a frequent speaker at Women’s Leadership Conferences including the Annual Conference Board Executive Women’s Conference and several Grace Hopper’s Conferences. In 2011, Linda was Program Co-chair for the Hopper’s Conference and she is a Conference Co-chair for the 2012 conference in Baltimore.

Linda is the recipient of the Microsoft First and Best Engineering Award and multiple Gold Star awards for outstanding performance. She is also proud to be married to a wonderful man and to be the mother of 6 successful children (5 grown). Her three oldest children are out of college pursuing successful careers in computer engineering and IP law.

Linda graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in Organizational Communications. She also holds an MBA from City University of Seattle.
