Who We Are: Lilis Bumgardner, CMP

Meetings and Events Manager

As Meetings and Events Manager, Lilis Bumgardner is responsible for developing event strategies and providing implementation planning for the Anita Borg Institute’s major events including the Anita Borg Institute Women of Vision Awards and the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing Conference.  As part of the program team, she brings a wealth of event experience to support the Anita Borg Institute’s programs and initiatives.

Lilis’s eight years in the meeting industry began soon after her role at the Kopin Corporation as the Marketing Specialist, where she was responsible for managing corporate events, trade shows, sales and customer meetings, and product launch events. She also was a key player in the marketing campaigns for new products and ongoing products.

Her experience ranges from corporate meeting planning to third-party event planning, and she has a track record of success in orchestrating tradeshows, conferences, training programs, seminars, investor meetings, partner events, product launches, executive strategic meetings, webinars, and special events for Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations. Her expertise includes strategic event design, production, creativity, and collaboration on account direction and client communications.

Lilis holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Southern New Hampshire University and a certificate in Event and Meeting Planning from San Jose State University.  In 2006, Lilis earned her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation.

Outside of work, Lilis enjoys traveling, playing tennis, cooking, and reading. She has traveled extensively in both Asia and North America, and Europe is next on her list.
