Who We Are: Kathy Gee

Director of Operations

Kathy GeeMy birth country is Malaysia.  I lived in Japan for 4 plus years and later moved to the Washington D.C./Virginia area for another 4 years.  San Francisco is now my home and has been for many years.

My interest in computer science started in my first year at college in Virginia.  However, my first IT job was at Hewlett-Packard Company some 10 years later and then at Agilent IT’s Network and Communications Group supporting their global teams.  I have held multiple IT positions -  HelpDesk Agent, UNIX System Administrator, Web Developer, and Information Solutions Specialist.  Coming from an enterprise environment to a “small business-like” environment at Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology (ABI) was quite a change.

From 2007 through 2010, I have been ABI’s IT Tools and Project Specialist.  The challenges in this capacity has been demanding but rewarding.  Now, as the Director of Operations, I embrace new challenges and would like nothing better than to be part of ABI’s future and growth.

I truly enjoy working with the ABI staff and volunteers.  As a team, I know we are making a difference in this world for women in technology!  I only wish I had an opportunity to meet Anita herself.

In my spare time, I love to bowl, play golf, walk, read, and spend time with my family.
